Fuck yeah. That alone is enough to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Plus, I've been drinking.
I made a second batch of egg nog this afternoon. 2 ounces of bourbon instead of 3, I didn't whip the egg whites until they were a rock-solid meringue, and I went balls out in integrating them. After only a couple of hours in the cheesebox, it had a mellower flavor than Batch One and is very drinkable, i.e., it's not a thick egg nog layer sloshing around underneath a foamy cap that you have to eat with a spoon.
Ryan is going to be making a ton of nog as well this week, but I can't remember what all he was planning on making. He's done the bourbon thing, and I recall he mentioned rum, and that he neglected to mention the traditional sherry.
I'm wondering how Kahlua would taste. Coffee nog? Is that something I would be able to tolerate? Stef made a damned fine pot of Stumptown this afternoon. I swear to all that is good and pure in this world, I can drink it black and come back for more.
Dick's Double Diamond Winter Ale is quite good. It has a very warming feel, is well-spiced, and has a hard-to-place touch of smokiness to it. Reminds me in a couple of ways of White Ribbon.
