The Week of Reinstalls
Last Sunday, I discovered that Safari, the Apple web browser, would not run on my iBook. This was running OS X Tiger with all the software updates installed, but the application would spontaneously shut down after about three seconds after I opened it.
It could have been like this for months, since I never use Safari for anything other than sanity checking problems I experience in Firefox.
I decided that this probably was a sign of a Bad Thing that I'd done to my laptop at some point in the past and reformatted it. So far, everything is working out nicely, including Safari. I still don't use it.
Last Saturday, I took my router offline and reformatted that as well. I redid the firewall ruleset and turned off bridging mode. I'm taking advantage of the new ntpd code and I'm lightly debating submitting my IP to the NTP server pool to keep tabs on my jitter, or lack thereof.
What's next, I wonder. I'm running out of computers to reformat.
