The Legend of uTorrent
uTorrent, the 175K "I can't believe it's not Azureus" BitTorrent client for Windows is pretty easy to use, but if you've ever looked at your peers, you'd see some flags that just don't make sense.
Then again, BitTorrent doesn't make a lot of sense at first, either. For most people, myself included, sending data across the network means "downloading, uploading, both, or neither". Two bits. Zeroes and ones. When Bram put BitTorrent together, he put a lot more thought into it than that. BitTorrent peers aren't just uploading or downloading. They're practically intelligent, and can be interested, uninterested, choked, or snubbed.
It's like a high school cafeteria.
If you've ever wondered what "UDOS I" or "D E" or "D I" stand for, well, the uTorrent FAQ has you covered: What do all those flags in the Flags column mean?
