Amazing Ride Home

Went out with Erica for a day of Sunday brunch and shopping. We left while a Browns game was starting up downtown and continually dreaded the hour of time we'd lose at the end of the trip driving the last two blocks to our home.

As it turns out, the Cleveland P. D. did their jobs well and all traffic was moving in exactly one direction. We ended up taking West 25th Street to the Veteran's Memorial Bridge, and from there all traffic was coming towards us and there was precisely one other vehicle on our side of the road. We actually got home faster today amidst the Browns game traffic than we would on a typical Sunday.

At the mouth of Old River Road there are train tracks, where the RTA trains take people back to their parking lots, and the crossing lights and bells go off every few minutes. So, naturally, once the bells start going off, drivers continue crossing the tracks while the crossing is good. And I'm not talking one or two cars. I'm talking five to eight. These people are quite deliberately tempting fate. I kind of wish there were more trainwreck fatalities at that intersection, so fewer people would pull stunts like that, but their boneheaded behavior did not significantly impede our ability to get home quickly.

So in all, the drive home was a breeze. In a quiet, organized way, it was a truly amazing experience.
