Liz Michael Makes a Good (Hollow) Point
LizMichael.com - Shooting Them Finally Comes Into Play
I think I like Liz Michael. She has reminded me not only of what made this country great, but what made this country period. We shot the British. And they died. And when the British said "Hey, you can't shoot us. We control you, and we'll make you sorry you shot us," we shot more of them. We shot so many for so long that they cut their losses, left the continent, and left us alone forever (or until they came back and burned the White House down).
But that's neither here nor there.
As soon as FEMA started turning back the Wal-Mart water trucks and Aaron Broussard burst into tears on Meet the Press, I heard Claire Wolfe's voice in my head. She's the one who wrote "America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards." And I realized that with disaster victims being denied help because of bureaucrats and regulations, we were one giant leap closer to that wonderful day when we get to shoot the bastards.
Liz Michael takes it one step further and states that, conditionally, it is finally time to shoot the bastards, at least if you're in New Orleans. Of course, as goes New Orleans, so goes the next disaster area. And then just the "hot spots". And then it becomes the status quo.
So get ready to shoot the bastards. There's a storm a-brewin', and when the day comes you must remember how you became an American. You became an American because your forefathers more than 200 years ago were in the exact same spot you'll be in. They knew what to do, and they did it. With bullets.
