Bill Gates - A short chat with Microsoft's Chief Software Architect
I love Channel 9. It's basically just Robert Scoble going around Microsoft with a video camera and interviewing the people who are making the software you're going to be using every day in five years. The list is virtually endless: Monad, SQL Server, Visual Studio 2005, Vista, Aero, Indigo, and so on.
I particularly enjoy his 16 minute chat with Bill Gates, not because Bill makes a great interview or because he's saying anything other than his usual "Gosh golly, computers sure are going to change everything in a couple of years". I enjoy it because Scoble interviewing Gates is exactly like Chris Farley interviewing Paul McCartney on Saturday Night Live.
"OK...remember...you remember when you were with The Beatles, and you were supposed to be dead, and, uh, there was all these clues, that, like, uh, you played some song backwards, and it'd say, like, 'Paul is dead', and, uh, everyone thought that you were dead? That was, um, a hoax, right?"
Scoble eventually turns the interview around and makes it non-cringeworthy, but it starts off exactly like that old sketch.
