43 Folders | Building a Smarter To-Do List, Part I

43 Folders | Building a Smarter To-Do List, Part I: "Glancing at your own to-do list, do you see any potential troublemakers? Notice any items that make you squeamish? Any mystery meat tasks that seem 'un-doable' as is? Don't sweat it. We're going to have you shaped up in no time."

If you aren't yet G'ing Ts D'd, you may still be using a conventional to-do list. That's OK, you're exactly where I am right now. (To-do list, Hipster PDA, what's the difference? A lot, actually.) I've often found myself failing because I didn't work the program, and I ended up putting stuff on my to-do list that didn't belong there. "Pay phone bill" is OK[1], but I should have better categorized "Write fciv-256". And "Mike owes you $15" has absolutely no place on it whatsoever.

So this article, and its followup, are a good place to start making to-do lists that work.

[1]: If I can pay my phone bill in 2 minutes, it shouldn't be on a to-do list. It should be paid.
