Back on Track

Today I had to deal with a woman who has tried to use her new network user account, good only for getting access to our corporate intranet, to log onto other stuff, like databases. She tried the same thing yesterday and apparently misheard me saying "I'm giving you a network account but you'll still have to use someone else's password for that database" as "Here is a magic password that will open anything."

After that, I was Cc'd on an e-mail from our president who referred to me as "the IT staff". As though there were more than one of me.

After that, I received an e-mail from a woman who knows what a pop-up blocker is, knows that she doesn't want it, and wants to know how to turn it off. It probably took as much time for her to write the message as it would have taken to open the browser's preferences menu and find it by aimlessly poking around.

And this was all before noon.

So in other words, everything is back to normal after the layoffs.
