Where did you come from, angel?

Biologists say that the sense of smell is the most closely associated with memory. In humans at least, the sense of smell is quite probably the weakest. Why else are there no cell phones that emit the odor of vanilla to tell you when someone is calling?

My point is that while you may immediately experience a recollection of a distant memory while walking past the donut place in the mall, you are far more likely every day to associate a memory to a stronger sense: sight or sound. This occurs to me because I now cannot hear the song "You Sexy Thing" without seeing in my mind the image of Bart Simpson thinking through the roster of undatable men in Springfield.
