Must-Have Firefox Add-ons

The new Firefox 3 beta came out today, and I couldn't be less enthused. No offense, but the Firefox 3 beta program is unamazing, and I will happily wait until the 3.0.1 release version comes out. I've been there and done that. I was using Firefox back in the 0.6 days, so I know what it's like anxiously awaiting the next build release and hoping it fixes some esoteric usability problem.

I'll pass this time, thanks. Looking forward to the final product, though.

In the meantime, I had to reimage my laptop this week, and that means reinstalling all the bits and bobs that make a piece of hardware like a laptop usable and useful. That means installing Firefox 2, and I am learning that it must have the following:

  • NoScript - disables the execution of JavaScript unless you manually whitelist the domain
  • Torbutton - quickly toggles your proxy settings from the status bar
  • Fasterfox - simple interface for optimizing Firefox internal settings
