It's Bliss

The most recent xkcd resonated with me. How can you possibly get dorkier than that?

Piece of cake.

In the short-lived Æon Flux series, they devoted an entire episode to bliss tablets, an edible gland grown inside tiny immortal creatures that looked like a cross between a guinea pig and a manatee. The creatures had been individually quarantined in jars on a platform high above the ground by a one-legged man who had taken one of the bliss tablets and now had no recollection of who he was, what his old life was like, or what compelled him to want to lose all of his memories.

He was driven to find a way to destroy the creatures that eroded his memories, compelled by his romanticized visions of the circumstances that could have led to his amnesia.

Chump.

I've found myself frequently thinking of that episode anymore, long before this xkcd.
