On Source Control

I'm conflicted. I hate CVS, but it seems to be very feature-rich and utterly ubiquitous. I love Darcs, but it's obscure and there's a lot that it can't do/doesn't do by design that CVS does.

Moreover, CVS is so widely-used that its quirks and behaviors are considered the de facto correct way to do just about anything that CVS does, right or wrong.

Oh, woe is me. Codeville is ossified, and I have no where to turn.

If it's for personal use, Perforce offers a free two user license (or, if it's open source, they offer a free unlimited user license).

They also have clients for every platform you can imagine. Including BeOS. R4 and R5.
