On Podcasts
For reasons unknown to me, my iRiver would always default to the oldest song on the player after finishing the newest song on the player, which is almost always a podcast.
Result: When I run out of podcasts, it plays the first song. This song has become a bookend, indicating to me that yes, indeed, I need to go update my podcasts. This song is "Baby I Love You" by The Yayhoos off their album "Fear Not the Obvious".
Don't ask.
Anyway, I recently discovered a limitation of the iRiver's ability to handle files stored on a FAT (or is it FAT32) filesystem, the result of which was truncated songs blending and blurring into others. Perhaps a chkdsk could have resolved the issue, but I prefer a more permanent solution.
Reformatted!
The result is that my iRiver is playing like new again, but I had to make doubly sure that the first tune on the system after the Podcasts directory was "Baby I Love You".
Tested today. Confirmed. Joy.
