Sights and Smells on the Walk to Work

This morning Sushi 86 had their front door propped open and I was taunted by the smell of fresh tuna as I passed them on my way into work.

At the intersection outside my office building, I saw an abandoned baby sock laying on the street. It looked like it may have been there overnight. My first thought was "I'm glad I don't live in Iraq, because over there this baby sock would probably have still had a foot inside it." Dark stuff, I know. I put it out of my mind, but on the way home I encountered two more matching baby socks on the sidewalk. Not sure what the message I'm being told is. If Douglas Adams were God, the message would probably be "there are two babies with cold feet in Cleveland right now."

The doctor on the cover of the newest issue of City News reminds me very much of Moss from The IT Crowd. I don't really keep up on the news these days, so walking by newspaper boxes is my primary means of getting the latest headlines...literally. Last night while waiting for Erica to pick me up I had the luxury of time to snap a picture of the certification sticker that every news dispenser needs to have in order to not be illegal. It's really quite interesting to note just how our society had determined that we need to certify our newspaper storage mechanisms. In a thousand years, someone is probably going to have research and index this type of thing. Egyptians? They left the world the Great Pyramids. Americans? We shall leave the world our bureaucracy.
