Upgrading to Ubuntu Dapper - O'Reilly ONLamp Blog
The last time I ran Ubuntu, I wondered what steps would be involved in upgrading it. I figured it was probably something simple, but I was as ignorant then as I am now as to what the procedure would be.
I'd try running whatever the Ubuntu software update utility was and it would eventually spit out a typical "your system to completely up to date" message. An up-to-date 5.04 system, perhaps. But I want an up-to-date 5.10 system.
I'm guessing, from what I've gleaned from this O'Reillynet.com post, that it involves updating the entries in /etc/apt/sources.list and then running "apt-get dist-upgrade". I think I'd like to try this the next time I've got Ubuntu installed on something.
