Today's Story
Today's story involves missing software. As in, I installed the software and the software works, but because the user can't find it on her machine, then I must have never installed it.
Huh? Yeah.
So I get a phone call from a VP asking me whether or not I installed the software. I tell her I did. And the VP, to her credit, says that she was misinformed. You're damn right you were misinformed. She then goes on to propagate some idle speculation she must have heard about this software being installed on a "temp account", since the user had been absent for a spell and her machine was used by a temp worker.
Huh? Huh. This is most assuredly not the case, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about saying things like "that's the stupidest thing you've ever said", or "what idiot gave you that idea?". The solution to this problem is to go to the computer, locate the icon on the Desktop, buried amidst about thirty others, and double-click it. Look at that! The software was there the entire time!
It's good to know I'm really earning that paycheck.
