Fear & Encoding

So here's a question. An astute secret Santa a few years back was kind enough to fetch me the spoken word rendition of Hunter S. Thompson's most famous work.

It's one CD. If I want to put it on my iRiver, I have a couple of choices, namely MP3 or Ogg. If I choose Ogg I have a much higher lower bound on my bitrate than if I pick MP3, and since the album isn't music per se it's not like I need a full 320kbps of audio quality to catch every last syllable and nuance of such classic lines as "One of these days I'm gonna toss a fucking bomb into this place!"

Perhaps I should begin with some tests. Some sample sampling, if you will.
