At some point, Steve Martin developed a split personality: one identity writes books and plays and is an accomplished humorist. The other identity makes movies like Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and in all other ways dallies with the career decisions made by Chevy Chase. Memoirs of an Invisible Man, anyone?

Poor Jean should not be forced to participate in this downhill slide. He has so much more to offer the world.
