New Year, Same Users

The calendar might be different, but everything else is the same. I've got a user who wants me to read some software documentation. "It's a PDF file," he says. I get in my inbox a 3MB attachments of the login screen to download it from the vendor's subscription-only website. No PDFs to be found. Followed up by another e-mail stating that when he sent it to me he got an error message, so he wants to know if it went through.

No. Really.

On top of that, I have to make an appointment to hand-hold a professional web developer because he can't figure out how to use rsync without having me give him the GFE over the phone. And really, that's what all of this is. Users too complacent in their ignorance to do their jobs without assistance.

So yeah, it looks like 2006 is gearing up to be every bit as sucktacular as 2005 proved to be.
