Continual Surprise

I am always surprised by the fact that new hires will be able to ask me for help, usually within twenty-four hours, without my having given them my e-mail address or telephone extension.

I know I shouldn't be surprised: I have assumed for years that everyone just automatically knows how to reach me. (So far, everyone has not disappointed.) Yet I'll still get stuff in my inbox from users whose own e-mail accounts are mere hours old and wonder "How did they figure out my address?" I think this is a classic sign of narcissism. Namely, that people only exist when I enter the room, and they disappear when I leave.
