CIFS, SMB, and You

I give up. I honestly don't know the difference between CIFS and SMB. I say this because a lot of what Windows does in order to push files around a Windows network is mysterious.

It is also fast. I appreciate being able to move a 32 MB file from one machine to another in all of ten seconds thanks to CIFS/SMB. But seriously, what's the big diff?
