Who is Michael Kaplan?

If you have ever touched an international version of Windows, you ought to thank Michael "michkap" Kaplan. michkap is a great golden god on internationalization and he blogs about these endless little issues that arise over at Sorting It All Out. He is obviously incredibly bright and does not mind getting into some devastatingly technical nitty-gritty of how Unicode works. Yet he can balance his posts between Unicode and his love of Limonata, a bizarre soft drink that he consumes in mass quantities, and his ongoing treatment for his multiple sclerosis. (He is undergoing highly experimental Novantrone treatments: it looks like concentrated Windex and turns your body fluids bright, bright blue.)

But what does michkap look like? What does he sound like? What would it be like to sit down and have a conversation with him about Vista's linguistic framework? You could get a job at Microsoft and join the former G.I.F.T. team with michkap, or you could just watch his Channel 9 video.

This is one of the big reasons why I enjoy Channel 9 so much. It personalizes the Microserfs.
