Sony Microvault Problem in WinXP
Remember how I toasted my shitty Sony USB thumb drive and turned it into a useless "security device"?
Well, Sony is bastards and you shouldn't buy their USB stuff.
I Googled for a potential solution and found a risky maneuver over on the Everything USB community forum, which basically boils down to "download and install another company's recovery tool". The secret, as it is, is to point your security device to a new driver, one installed by the recovery program and hiding at "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\PL2515.SYS".
Now I appear to have a working USB drive again, but we shall see if it works on other systems tomorrow.
