The Lonely Island - Awesometown
In light of the flurry of Internet links to the Chronicles of Narnia rap from SNL today and yesterday, I figured I'd take another opportunity to push the Awesometown pilots from The Lonely Island. It's funny stuff. How funny? Funny enough that the show starts with a heartfelt testimonial by King Kong's Jack Black dressed as George Washington. Here's his testimonial:
"Hi. I'm George Washington, the first president of the United States of America. So I think you should listen to what I have to say.
"The show you're about to see is called Awesometown and it's the funniest thing since sliced bread, which I invented. You don't believe me? Oh, you think I'm too old 'cause I discovered America and junk? Listen up, buddy. I've been around, so I know what I'm talking about. The three dudes in the show you're about to watch are committed to entertainment. Just like I was committed to freeing the slaves! And making pipes and...stuff!
"Think I'm lyin'? I can't. That's my thing: no lies. Check the one dollar bill, shortstack. I was f-----g president! So keep your looking balls on the picture radio and prepare to get your nuts smashed...
"By Awesometown!"
