jwz - recent movies

Wil "Space Nerd" Wheaton recently linked to jwz's blog and spoke highly of him as THE jwz. The only jwz I can think of is the one who spent a great deal of time coding the Netscape browser. I think it's safe to assume they are one and the same.

Just today, jwz mentioned some recent movies he's seen. And it gave me an idea. Something I'd never considered before. He consecutively reviews Clockwatchers, Party Girl, and Æon Flux.

And then it hit me.

It makes so much sense now. Why, oh Lord, did they pick Charlize Theron when they could have had the queen of the indies? jwz states that he was such a fan of the Chung shorts that he doubts it would be possible to make a live-action version that works. Until now, I'd have agreed with him. I disagree now, and my arguement is two words:

Parker Posey.

She was the party girl from Party Girl. She was Jackie O. Pascal in The House of Yes. She can do no wrong. And she can assuredly kill one thousand men with only two pistols and a g-string.

And I'm pretty sure it would have done just as poorly at the box office. That's a little sad.

I don't know if you've heard this before, but casting directors never hire Parker Posey. They want someone like her, but not her.
