And How!
Before the sun goes down and I start thinking about the fact I have to go back into work the next day, Sundays are my favorite day of the week. I sleep in, drink tea, and in lieu of a commitment to watching Buffy, I do whatever the hell I feel like for as long as I can.
Sometimes Erica and I go out. Sometimes we talk about going out and then gee, shucks, look at the time, guess what we forgot to do. It's a quarter 'til five and I'm still in my jammies. You can't buy recovery like that.
Today I spent my afternoon consuming like a whore. Erica pointed out to me a discount on iRiver MP3 players on Amazon, and now there is a sizable dent in my credit card. These aren't impulse purchases: everything I bought at Amazon was something that had been collecting dust inside my wish list for at least a few months. I had the money, I wanted them, and I had a nice $25 discount incentive to spend. It's the American way!
Besides, buying things improves my mood. That's how I justified the purchase of new high-contrast polyhedral dice from Do or Dice. Erica ran a horror/mystery one-shot last night by candlelight, and during the inevitable "six strangers together in a mansion at night when the power goes out" scene, it made reading the numbers on my trusty Scarab Jades nigh impossible. Don't let the picture fool you: the gold paint on those things looks great under normal tabletop conditions, but when the lights go off you're pretty much fucked. That's why I put in an order for a nice, simple set of black-on-whites and white-on-blacks. You know. In case I ever roleplay in the dark again.
It could happen.
