Just FYI, Peter Singer wrote Practical Ethics, and is not a book that I would expect freshmen in Philosophy 101 to have to read. He's been strongly criticized for the Utilitarian views he makes in Practical Ethics, and I think he and his subject matter better suit an ethics class or a class on modern philosophy.

Yes, in my philosophy classes in college, there was one of these guys. And no, I was not this guy.
