2005 IT Salary Survey: Turning the Knife
Courtesy of Slashdot comes this salary survey that proves what I already know: everybody makes more money than me.
This isn't news. I'm not even going to bitch about it. I won't even moan a little. I've done quite a bit of that before. I didn't go into the non-profit field for all its fast cars and easy women. No, there's no glory in 503(c)-land. What I'm going to bitch about is this quote from a Midwestern IT manager:
"The most sought-after skill is the ability to do everything with nothing."
Bullshit. Bullshit. If recruiters were really looking for people who can run multi-million dollar organizations with virtually no budget, my phone would be ringing off the hook. Is it a desirable skill? Sure is. Is it something you learn how to do in a non-profit? Like the back of your hand. So tell me, survey, where exactly is this skill so very desired? I'm curious, because I want to know where to mail my resume.
