"Grinds off"?
I'm insulted by the title of today's Plain Dealer article about the layoffs yesterday: "Science center grinds off staff jobs as it shifts gears". "Grinds off"? Couldn't you think of a word a little more sympathetic than "grinds"? Next thing you know this half-wit reporter will be penning "Six children bite it in Lakewood bus accident" and "Councilman all up in mayor's grill about transportation budget". Christ almighty, Susan Ruiz Patton, there's just some language that is not appropriate for use in a newspaper.
