Doom Runs on OS X

I can play Doom on my iBook. This isn't news to a lot of people, but the last game I played on it was "Dragon Warrior" under NES emulator.

The graphics are pretty smooth.

The port I used is Doom Legacy, and they even allege to have an OpenBSD port.

Doom Legacy includes the shareware version of Doom, but the website claims you can play the full version if you own the full version of either Doom or Doom II.

Good thing I do. Own the full versions, that is. Which is why I don't have a problem listing this guide to the SHA-1 hashes of the relevant .wad files:

DOOM.WAD - Doom Wiki

DOOM2.WAD - Doom Wiki

I found both of these files within minutes by using a basic "filetype:wad" Google search. Don't do this, kids at home. I own both Doom and Doom II, so I'm legally in the clear to have these files on my PC. I've got the CD-ROM right frickin' in front of me, but it's a lot more convenient to pull the .wad off of the Internet than it is to put Windows 95 on an old box and de-ice it manually.

Doom. Good stuff.
