Woman marries man. They live happily for ten years. Woman bears him five children. Father-in-law suddenly decides to take woman on a non-consensual frolic in the fields. Local religious leaders decide that her marriage is thusly nullified and she is honor-bound to get matrimonial with her rapist.

And people wonder why Americans look down their noses at the rest of the world. I just don't have the words to express myself on this subject. I'm confused in that same kind of Star Trek way when the doctor has the technology to save a life, but the family refuses treatment because of some asinine tradition they have on the planet Mooboo Seven. It's sad.
