The Perils of Mother's Day

It's Mother's Day. That means most people in the U.S. are probably making phone calls today to their moms.

These things are usually pretty benign. You wish mom a happy Mother's Day, and catch up on the status of her azalea garden or such.

Of course, just my luck, I call seconds after she's pulled out of the driveway and left for a few hours.

So who answers the phone? My sister. I have nothing against my sister, so long as we can all agree that she's better off in another state and not pushing me around every day.

So naturally, she tells me that mom has left, and I should call back later. The call takes 24 minutes and doesn't end until I inform her that I'm losing her signal on the phone.

Sigh.
