Some of the Many Reasons Why I Pray for the Death That Does Not Come
In the span of a single work day, I have had to explain to a videoconferencing technician what a MAC address is. I've been asked by a tech support agent to make a drastic configuration change to a live, in-place, production server without providing any documentation whatsoever. And someone has asked me to repair a credit card reader. "What is it do you expect me to do?" I asked her. "I don't know. Just take a look at it." I did. It's still broken.
All I want is someone competent on the other end of the phone when I pick it up. That's it. And yet this is just too much to ask for, somehow.
