"I got the Jerome Kern song you requested!"

One of my favorite scenes from Man of the Century is the intro scene wherein our hero, Johnny Twennies, goes to his favorite record store and gets a vinyl album he requested. The song is Look for the Silver Lining, a Jerome Kern tune that he composed in 1920.

It was also a staple tune played daily — daily — on Turner Classic Movies at 6 AM after they finished their "you've stayed up way too late to have a job" batch of movies and before they started their "you're up way too early to have a job" batch of movies.

I love that tune, but I could never place it until Man of the Century came along. I think I'm going to pair this flick with the 2005 silent film The Call of Cthulhu, for a black and white, sound's-optional double-feature. It'll be the bee's knees. And they said Lindy was lucky!
