Have Yourself a Bleary Little Christmas

I'm not a huge fan of Kentucky bourbon, and besides, we were fresh out of Maker's Mark, so a couple of months back in preparation for noggin' season, I invested in a huge-ass bottle of Bushmills, an Irish whiskey aged in oak casks that come from the U. S. I discovered this brand last year at Jeff's wedding, and immediately enjoyed its softness and easy drinkability.

Bushmills is the whiskey you'd give to your kids, were you ever to be placed in a bizarre Sophie's Choice-type scenario where you had to pick which whiskey you had to give to your offspring.

So this year I'm trying a blend of bourbon and Irish whiskey, and the end result is a smooth flavor that lacks any of that kick-you-in-the-tongue quality that bourbon brings.
