Christmas Eve

There are few better ways to enjoy Christmas Eve than on the couch, listening to music, imbibing any one of several alcoholic options available to you, with tiny splatters of fresh lobster juice drying on your eyeglasses.

It might be clarified butter or lemon juice. I wouldn't know, I'm not an ichthyologist.

I celebrate Christmas, in the sense that I decorate a tree and exchange presents with loved ones on December 25th. I'm not really sure there's more significance to it than that. The other day I ran across an article called Why the Resurrection Matters to You, and I found it entertaining. Emphasis added:

"Many skeptics say that to believe in a risen Christ is nothing more than a blind leap of faith with little or no basis in truth. When confronted with the facts, however, those who are intellectually honest have been forced to admit that the Resurrection is an historical event based on irrefutable proofs.... The Resurrection sets Christianity apart. No other religious leader has broken the power of death and conquered sin."

No other religious leader has overcome the power of death, you say? What about:

Honorable Mention goes to: Neo, E. T., The Extra-Terrestrial, Six, and Lazarus.

Am I missing any? Probably.

* had a refusal to acknowledge that death really exists

Don't forget Mithras and Dionysus. They're notable in that they died for humanity's sins and were then resurrected. Hundreds of years before Jesus.
