Get Me to the Airport and Put Me on a Plane

"Hurry hurry hurry, before I go insane.
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain."

Did you know there's a 3 AM now? 'cause I didn't. I was awoken at this ungodly hour of the day in order to get ready to catch a plane to Phoenix. I had gotten 1 hour of sleep.

The flights were unremarkable and within about six hours I was in a new country. An hour after that, two people on two occasions had tried to sell me timeshares. I'm finally in my room: my de rigueur hoodie and wool hat are in the closet and I'm in shorts and sandals. I spent about 30 minutes on the veranda in my boxers taking pictures of coconuts and the pool:

From there, we walked to the local convenience store for bottled water and sunblock. They were playing TaTu on the overhead as I walked in. We got a bite to eat outside, and I'm debating whether I want to try to work my way through their cocktail list alphabetically while I'm here.

We walked along the beach, first in one direction and then in the other to a) get back to the hotel and b) ensure even browning. There are plenty of people out on the beach. I can tell that they are turistas who've been here for a few days and they don't look tanned, they look charred. This tells me that the sun here is not forgiving, so I'll have to be extra careful about fixing the farmer's tan I've developed.

The point of this trip was to fix my farmer's tan. Next year I'm going to try SPF 50 spray plus a clothing optional resort. Coppertone Girl, eat your heart out.

I'm a little bummed that my GPS receiver has no fucking clue where I am right now, even after prolonged communications with four satellites. I'm only a little bummed by this since I've spent the last couple of hours poolside either napping to make up for the hour of rest I had this AM, or soaking in a giant hot tub with a raging fire pit attached to it. I got pruny hands and pummeled about the back and feet by heated water jets — that's enough to soothe all but the greatest of GPS woes.

I am so happy you took the time to take care of yourself. I was actually worried (and yes because I am too much the humanitarian?) that your travel plans included going somewhere bizarre to help set up infrastructure or volunteer your IT skills setting up a school or heaven forfend manual labor to build/rebuild an area. Those can all be fairly dangerous options. Not that I would complain if you did them, just worry more. As it is I am tickled that you relaxed. Love for my girl from me if/when u see her.
