The Term "Guidance Counselor" is Redundant

I had the same conversation with my guidance counselor when I was in junior high.

Then I switched to a real school district and met Cheryl, who was a guidance counselor with an affinity for Diet Coke and getting shit fixed. Cheryl was an invaluable resource for worried, confused, and just plain ignorant kids like me who had lots of issues with getting prepared for college and I don't think I've ever properly thanked her for all that she did for me. Things like admissions processes, finding and filling out applications, getting letters of recommendation, writing persuasive essays... these were all Cheryl's domain and without her guidance and counseling, I would have been well and truly fucked.
